Zest is an award winning theatre company creating exhilarating new work for young people. We're in an exciting stage of overhauling our touring model in order to make a greater impact on young audiences. The Producer is a central role within this model, as we create a stronger, more robust organisation suitable to deliver our future ambitions. The Producer is responsible for the smooth operational running of Zest's day-to-day business administration and the organisation of the Company’s national touring and festival activities.
Based in Lincoln, we tour to theatres, festivals, outdoor spaces and schools with worked described as ‘unpretentious’ (The Stage) and ‘invigorating’ (The British Theatre Guide). Our interactive, immersive and site-specific productions actively place the audience right at the centre of the action and creative process.
Zest has recently celebrated 10 years, having led 800 workshops, performed 1,500 shows and reached 134,000 people over the last decade. Our work has toured to venues and festivals across the length and breadth of the country, including: ArtsDepot, Barnsley Civic, Bradford Festival, Cast Doncaster, Derby Theatre, Half Moon Theatre, The Great Exhibition of the North, Lincoln Drill Hall, Lyric Hammersmith, Northern Stage, Stratford Circus, TakeOff Festival, The Egg Bath, The Marlowe Canterbury and York Theatre Royal.
We are passionate about the development of young audiences. Each production is inspired by the needs, lives and imaginations of those aged under 25. This approach creates work that's unique, relevant and engaging – giving a voice to a generation that too often goes unheard. This was recognised by the Off West End Awards, who awarded our most recent production, What Once Was Ours, Best Production for Young People 13+ 2018.
In addition to our extensive touring programme, Zest Theatre are lead artists for Lost Village Festival– an immersive festival experience. Zest has provided the entire theatre creative for the festival since 2015, bringing the immersive world of Lost Village to life for a capacity crowd of 12,000 each year. This work led to a host of awards in 2017, including Best Small Festival and Best Production at the UK Festival Awards.
